 H2O Responsibilities

  •  Curation & Design Support – Guidance on photo selection, book layout, typography, and print preparation.
  • Production & Printing – Vendor coordination, paper selection, binding quality checks, proofing, and turnaround management.

  • Distribution & Logistics – Packaging, shipping, and delivery to buyers/collectors.

  • Marketing & Visibility – Featuring works on H2O platforms, campaigns, and exhibitions as per the chosen service plan.

  • Financial Transparency – Printing/admin costs charged on actuals + handling fee (15%); service fees clearly defined in selected plans.

  • File Security – All submitted files are stored securely and used only for agreed publishing/printing purposes.

Photographer Responsibilities

  • Ownership & Rights – Confirm that submitted works are original and free of copyright or third-party claims.

  • File Submission – Provide processed, high-resolution TIFF/JPEG files (300 dpi). RAW files are optional and not required unless mutually agreed.

  • Approvals – Review and approve layouts, designs, and proof prints before production begins.

  • Editioning (for prints) – Define edition size (e.g., 1/10, open edition) and supply certificates of authenticity if applicable.

  • Pricing Decisions – Suggest base price for photobooks and prints (with H2O guidance).

  • Timely Communication – Respond promptly to H2O’s requests to avoid production delays.

Shared Understanding

  • Withdrawal of Works – Photographers may withdraw their works with 30 days’ written notice; pending orders will still be fulfilled.

  • Revenue Sharing – Proceeds are shared as per the chosen publishing/printing plan.

  • Confidentiality – Both parties respect the confidentiality of unpublished projects.

  • Legal Jurisdiction – All agreements are governed by the laws of India, with disputes subject to Kolkata jurisdiction.

  • Delivery Timeline: Publishing and print cycles depend on service plan chosen.

  • Termination: Either party may terminate collaboration with one month’s written notice (ongoing sales will be honored).

  • Payments: Must be cleared before printing. Revenue shares released via bank transfer/PayPal.

  • Liability: H2O will not be liable for any copyright disputes arising from submitted work.

Submission Guidelines & Selection Process

Submission Guidelines

  1. Participants must submit 10 low-resolution images (JPEG, 1500px on the long side, 72 dpi) via email to [insert email ID] for initial review.
  2. Along with the images, participants must share their website link or social media profile(s) showcasing their work.

  3. Submissions should clearly indicate whether the interest is for:

    • Photobook publishing, or

    • Fine Art Print sales, or both.

  4. Only processed, final images will be accepted for review. RAW files are not required at this stage.

  5. Each submission must include a short artist’s statement (200–300 words) describing the concept, project, or body of work

Selection Process

  • All submissions will be reviewed by a management panel of three senior photographers/curators associated with H2O.

  • Selection is based on:

a) Artistic Merits

b) Thematic strength,

c) Print/publishing feasibility.

  • The panel’s decision will be final and binding. H2O reserves the right to decline any submission without providing detailed feedback.

  • Selected participants will be contacted via email with next steps, including service plan options and estimated costs.
